CCSL Elementary School (Grades K-4)
English Language Arts
At the Collegiate Charter School of Lowell, our K–4 students explore the joy of reading and writing!
-
Kindergarten: Students build foundational skills through multisensory activities, learning to blend sounds, recognize high-frequency words, and develop handwriting and spelling. They begin connecting reading and writing while exploring stories and growing vocabulary.
-
Grades 1–2: Students strengthen reading fluency and comprehension, practice vowel sounds, compound words, and sentence writing, and explore a variety of genres to develop confidence and expression.
-
Grades 3–4: Students are reading to learn, tackling chapter books, identifying main ideas and key details, and writing in informative, persuasive, and narrative styles. They also research topics and present projects, building critical thinking and communication skills.
At CCSL, English is an adventure in literacy, inspiring students to read, write, and express themselves with confidence!
