CCSL Elementary School (Grades K-4)
Our school is proud to offer a dynamic and engaging Science and Technology curriculum for students in Grades K–4. We use the Amplify Science curriculum, which immerses students in hands-on investigations and real-world problem-solving. This curriculum is fully aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MA DESE) standards, ensuring a strong and comprehensive learning experience.
Science Curriculum Highlights
-
Phenomena-Based Learning: Students explore real-world phenomena and take on the roles of scientists and engineers as they ask questions, conduct investigations, and solve problems. This approach builds curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific reasoning skills.
-
Integrated Literacy Activities: Amplify Science incorporates reading, writing, and discussion, helping students strengthen literacy skills while learning important science concepts.
-
Hands-On Investigations: Each unit includes hands-on materials and experiments that actively engage students and bring science learning to life.
Technology Integration
-
STEM Lab Specials: Students attend STEM Lab sessions twice a week for part of the year, where they apply classroom learning through engaging experiments, design challenges, and collaborative projects.
-
Tynker Computer Curriculum: During the other part of the year, students participate in computer specials using the Tynker curriculum to build foundational coding skills, problem-solving abilities, and digital literacy.
Our K–4 science and technology programs are designed to inspire curiosity and a lifelong love of learning, while building the foundational skills students need to succeed in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.
